Connecting the dots! A spotlight on the WIC (Women Infants & Children) program and how it connects with other work-support programs.

WIC is an exciting nutrition education program to tell your clients about. WIC provides coupons for nutritious foods which promote good health for pregnant women, breastfeeding moms, infants, and children up to age five. Nutritious foods include milk, eggs, peanut butter or beans, infant formula, baby food, salmon, fresh and canned fruits and veggies, whole grains and brown rice.

In addition to nutritious foods, WIC provides nutrition education and support, breastfeeding education and support, recipes, referrals for health care and immunization screening.

The income guidelines for WIC are set at 185% or below of the FPIG. A family may be eligible for WIC if they are not eligible for SNAP (food stamps) because of the higher income guideline. Clients who are eligible for either WIC or SNAP and have school aged children may be eligible for the USDA free and reduced priced lunch. All these applications can be completed in OBB with follow up instructions.

Click to view a table of all the income guidelines for these and other OBB supported benefits.

Clients can apply for WIC or other work-support programs by contact a local OBB site using our site finder or apply using the self-serve website . For WIC, once an application is completed and submitted the client will be contacted by the local WIC office to schedule an appointment. WIC offices are located in the county Health Department.
