Free (Ohio Grown) Produce

Hello online North Coast OBB community! My name is Samantha- everyone calls me Sam- and I am your guest blogger for the third week of every month. I am a *VISTA out of the Second Harvest Food Bank of North Central Ohio which covers Lorain, Erie, Huron and Crawford counties- if you have an event in this area you would like mentioned here, feel free to send me an e-mail and I'd be more than happy to oblige.

Now: my first post:

The Food Bank's Farmers Market program is up and running and generally lasts from mid-summer through early fall. These events are direct on-site distributions of locally grown produce and are set up in parking lots, gymnasiums, grassy plains- anywhere we can fit thousands of pounds of produce to give away for free.

We have almost thirty Farmers Markets scheduled for this season! Produce is dependent upon the season but past markets have included: cucumbers, peppers, corn, celery, cabbage, radishes, lettuces, hard squash, potatoes, onions, peaches, apples, pears, leeks, various greens, cilantro, parsley, turnips and tomatoes.

Free produce AND the OBB van will be at August markets in Oberlin, Elyria and Bellevue. Contact me if you want the full schedule of markets or if you want to volunteer!
